It was a very busy day at our Annual General Meeting this year where in addition to the typical AGM matters of business, we had the distinct pleasure of hearing from guest speakers and introducing our new staff to charity members.
The AGM was chaired by Iain Murray MBE, Chair of Asbestos Action, and he spoke about the good position the charity is in. He also expressed optimism for the year ahead and does not foresee any issues on the horizon.
Next up was General Manager, Dianne Foster, who provided an update on the events that occurred over the last 12 months. She shed light on the day-to-day efforts in reaching out to patients and families across the country to make sure they have the tailored and bespoke support they need. But she also revealed details of landmark discussions now happening with healthcare practitioners – such as providing asbestos-awareness insights to speaking to Scot Gem Post-Graduate Medical Students at seven Fife GP surgeries.
Dianne also gave her heartfelt thanks to those who continue to donate to Asbestos Action and take part in fundraising activities – it is thanks to such efforts and kindness that the charity is able to help others.
We then heard from Fraser Simpson, Euan Love and Gary Ross from Digby Brown about the latest and up to date legal news around asbestos.
Attendees also heard from Agnes Whyte MBE from Breathe Easy Fife and the work the group does to support people affected by medical conditions that impact their breathing.
Then finally, it was official it was a chance to meet the team in full:
